Good and Bad Auto Shipping Routes

When getting an auto shipping quote, your final price can be based on many factors, one being, driver availability on the actual route the driver will have to take to get from your pickup location to your delivery location. All state to state auto transports are different, to give you an examples, an auto shipping quote from Miami,Florida to Los Angeles ,CA,2700 miles, will be cheaper than a car shipping rate from Buffalo,NY to Portland,OR,2700 miles. Driver availability being the biggest factor in your car shipping price, there are a lot more drivers on southern lanes than the northern lanes,so you will have less drivers to choose from. Check back to our blog to get more info on car shipping prices. Call a Post Oak agent today to get an auto shipping rate on your state to state move. 713-957-9700

How the Increase in Diesel Prices Affects Trucking Jobs

Trucking is not an easy industry to work in,especially if you're on of the people who operate a big rig. You face long hours on the road with nothing but the radio for the company, trying not to fall asleep at the wheel as you power your way across the country to deliver your cargo.
If you're lucky you work for a company that offers insurance benefits. You also have to deal with wacky weather and road conditions, the difficulty of finding places to stop for food and fuel, the discomfort of sitting in a cab day and night when you're on duty, and of course, the dangers associated with any job that leaves you in a state constant sleep deprivation. But one of the worst parts of the job for many in the industry is the onus of paying for diesel fuel, which is often more expensive than regular gasoline. As reported by, Truck Driver Blog. Preparation is Key in Auto Shipping

Auto Shipping can be a challenge to set-up, as well as going through the car shipping process itself. Here are a few things you can do to make the process of auto shipping a little easier.

First, be sure to prepare your vehicle for the shipment. Give it a light wash, so the auto carrier can do a proper inspection at pickup. You should not pack household goods in your car during auto transport , DOT policy prohibits transporting HHG in a car during auto transport. You could face a stiff fine from each state. If possible, make sure your car has 1/2 a tank of gas or less. Be sure to get a copy of the inspection report at pickup.
Second, be sure your auto shipping agent goes over the proper insurance and procedures if there is a problem or damages during your auto shipment, as well as making sure the auto transport company is licensed and bonded.
Third, just be sure you get the right auto shipping company to begin with, like Post Oak. Booking with the wrong auto shipping company could cost you time and money. Getting the right company can ensure your auto shipment is stress free. Call a Post Oak agent today to go over your auto shipment.713-957-9700

Classic Car Shipping with Quality and Peace of Mind

Classic car shipping can be stressful , but now with new advancements in auto shipping technology, some carriers allow you to track your shipment and not worry about damages during loading and unloading.
There are a few things to keep in mind in the auto transport industry when shipping a classic car, especially on an open car carrier. Open car carriers leave your classic car subject to the elements and road conditions. So it is possible to get a blemish on that fresh paint job.Post Oak recommends shipping your classic car in an enclosed car carrier. An enclosed car carrier will provide you with full protection from road hazards and weather.Peace of mind goes a long way when your car will be on an enclosed transporter for 2-7 days.
Getting a quote can also be a task when trying to ship a classic car. Watch out for the cheaper quotes, you will get what you pay for. Going with a cheaper quote can put you at risk of getting old equipment and longer pickup and delivery times. Also, be sure your carrier has the proper cargo insurance, booking with the wrong company can put your car at risk of not being covered under cargo insurance ,if there is a problem. You want the experts at Post Oak handling your classic car transport. Car Carrier Cargo Insurance in Auto Transport

Each car carrier is required, by law, to carry cargo insurance, typically from one hundred thousand dollars to a million dollars. While getting auto shipping quotes and choosing your auto shipping company, be sure the company you choose has the proper cargo insurance. Some auto shippers will put your car on a transporter that does not have the proper insurance, saving money for them, but putting your car at risk of not being covered if there is a problem, due to not enough insurance coverage for all of the cars transported. Being licensed and bonded does not necessarily mean you have the proper insurance, and just because the auto shippers says he has insurance does not mean the carrier has enough insurance for your car and the rest. Each car carrier has their own policy, so be sure to tell your agent the value of your car and ask about the cargo insurance amount of the carrier hauling your car. Especially if you have a new, exotic, classic or vintage car you are transporting. Call a Post Oak Auto Transport agent today to get a quote on moving your car with the proper cargo insurance coverage.

Car Care Tips for the Summer Months

The heat of the summer can cause major problems to your car, if you have not given it proper attention throughout the year. You should do preventative maintenance on your car year round, but especially in the summer months. Here are a few tips that can save you time and money in another long hot summer.

1.Worn or damaged belts can leave you stranded in the heat, be sure all belt are working properly and your AC belt is not dried or loose. A loose or damaged belt could cause more problems.
 2. Your cars brake pads wear out a lot faster in the summer, the heat is the main cause. Have a mechanic check your pads and rotors, to be sure they are in good working condition.Do not hesitate to replace any worn out parts.
 3. Have your radiator checked for leaks and cracks. If your radiator runs out of coolant, you could ruin your engine. If everything looks good, just be sure the coolant level is full.
4. Be sure to change your oil if needed.
5.Use a windshield cover and tented windows to keep inside temperatures low and help prevent your interior from getting sun damage.
6.An emergency first aid kit and back water and coolant are good to have.
7.Have your AC system check for leaks and freon levels. Low levels and leaks could cause other parts to work harder than normal, causing damage.
8. Proper tire pressure can save you gas and your tires from getting damaged. Keep your tire pressure at the manufactures recommended PSI.

Following these steps can help you prevent unwanted damage to your car during the hot summer months.Sometimes spending a little money and doing preventative maintenance can save you in the long run.If you have any question, please call a Post Oak agent today.713-957-9700
